The Meccalte ASR AVR operates on a closed-loop control system. It continuously monitors the alternator output voltage and compares it with a reference value.

The difference between the actual and reference voltage is processed to control the conduction of an SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier). By adjusting the pulse width of the SCR, the AVR regulates the DC excitation current supplied to the rotor.

This process ensures stable AC output voltage, even under varying load conditions, making it essential for generator protection and performance.
